Pre-Season Launch

Thank you to everyone for attending the SoCal Showdown to support Team Sprocket! It is now officially pre-season, and our new members have begun receiving training for their subteams. Last week, we participated in SoCal Showdown, and some new members were able to gain a lot of experience.

I’m Isabella Chong, a sophomore who was accepted as a Publicity member for the Team Sprocket 2025-2026 season. My experience on the first day of Sprocket was fun and exciting. I loved learning about the team’s history and how we can make an impact on this year’s members. Everyone in Sprocket is eager to learn and has the same goal in mind: improving our robot and growing from last year’s mistakes.

I’m Thu Vien, a freshman who has just recently joined the Publicity subteam for Team Sprocket. My experience on the first day was very positive, and I enjoyed it a lot. There was a fun atmosphere, and returning members and leads were very welcoming to new members. On the first day, new members got to learn about the history of Team Sprocket, such as their previous logos, their ambition, past mistakes, and how they’ve reflected on them. I met a lot of new people on the team and hope to have a great year.

We interviewed some members of the team about their first day at Sprocket. Here’s what our members have to say about their first day:

 Julie Shen, the Captain of Engineering, recalled, “My first day at Sprocket, I was kinda overwhelmed because there was so much going on in the workshop, but I think the first day I also got to learn that there's an order to everything and a lot of opportunities.” 

Harrison James, a returning electrical member,  stated, “I felt overwhelmed, but I got the hang of it after a couple of weeks. I had really good leads and mentors to help me at the time, and overall I really enjoyed it.” 

Ethan Chang, a new member, says, “My first impression of the team members was that they seem very connected and very nice so far, so yes, I’m pretty happy to be here.”
